My Chinese Learning Journey

I love learning new languages. Asian languages have especially caught my interest; I find them fascinating since their writing systems are far different from Latin scripts. I have so far studied Japanese, Korean, and Chinese.

Chinese has especially left an impression on me. In my opinion, it is easy to learn (excluding the memorization of characters) due to its structure. Chinese grammar is very simple and has a consistent, logical structure. Chinese words are built from characters called Hanzi (汉字). Each Hanzi comes together in a dance of meaning to create words. The word Hanzi itself consists of the characters Han (汉 - Hàn), meaning Chinese, and Zi (字 - zì), meaning character.

For these reasons, I have decided to further improve my Chinese with the help of a lecturer from my institute. I also use the app HelloChinese for its immersion-oriented material. I am currently working on obtaining HSK certificates (Levels 1 and 2).
